Jesus told a parable (story) about not worrying about clothing and using the example of lillies. What did he mean by this? (Matthew 6:28-30)
One day Jesus was teaching His followers and He brought up the subject of worry and God taking care of our everyday needs.
Ask the children…
What did Jesus say we should look at if we are worried about our clothing?
““And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, ‘” (Matthew 6:25)
How beautifully are the flowers dressed? How should that encourage us?
“‘Yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. 30 And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith? ‘” (Matthew 6:29, 30)
This past Saturday I went to see my oldest daughter in the wedding dress that she selected. She was absolutely stunning. And it wasn’t just the dress, it was her radiance. Some women we didn’t even know in the dress shop began to cry when they saw her. When my wife and I went to pay for the dress, we weren’t worried, because God had provided the money for us to buy it. He had already put the money in the bank.
Ask your children if they are worried about having enough money to pay for their clothing and if their clothing is beautiful enough? Go look in their closet and drawers and marvel at all that God has provided. Thank God together that we don’t have to worry about God providing for clothing. He cares for us more than the beautifully adorned birds.
