Kids Story: Waiting On The Lord Like Abraham

Abraham waits for Isaac

Do your kids ever complain that something is taking forever to happen? Sometimes we think since God is not acting immediately He must have forgotten to do it.  Well if anyone was going to complain about God taking a really long time to answer a promise then it would be Abraham.  When God first promised Abraham that he would have a son he was 75 years old (Genesis 12:1-4, Genesis 15:2-5).  Yet Abraham was 100 years old when Isaac was born ( Genesis 21:1-6).  That was 25 years of waiting for God to work! Talk about waiting a while!

When your kids get upset about how things are taking a long time this is a great story to share with them.  God is not working on our time clock.  He works things out when He knows it is the right time.  Tell your kids to pray faithfully and then be prepared to have some patience!
