One Year Study Thru The Bible For Children – March 31, 2 Samuel 22

ILLUSTRATION SAMUEL KING DAVID

ILLUSTRATION SAMUEL KING DAVID

This one year study thru the Bible for kids is designed to hit the highlights and provide practical application. I encourage you to read the whole section of scripture (2 Samuel 22 ) while we focus in on just a few verses.

Background: After King David had ascended to the throne and God and rescued him from all of his enemies, David composed a song to God.

Ask the children…

How does David describe God?

““The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior;
    my God is my rock, in whom I find protection.
He is my shield, the power that saves me,
    and my place of safety.”
(2 Samuel 22:2,3)

“The Lord lives! Praise to my Rock!
    May God, the Rock of my salvation, be exalted!” (2 Samuel 22:47)

King David had experienced the goodness of God towards him.  When he was fighting against his enemies, God had always been there for Him.  When David was in a tight spot, he had learned to rely upon God.  As a result he gave praise to God and exalted His name.

Ask your children to describe a situation in which they had to place all their trust in God?  How did they feel beforehand and how did they feel after?  What did they learn about trusting God?  Read through these verses above and have them say these verses about their own situation and their experience of God’s protection and power.  Exalt the Lord together as a family.

Feel free to share your own stories below in the comments section.
