Today let’s focus on teaching kids a Bible miracle from the book of Acts. The Holy Spirit uses Peter and John to heal a lame man. (Acts 3:1-9).
After the Holy Spirit had come upon the disciples, they were empowered to do amazing things. Let’s look at one of those miraculous incidents.
Ask the children…
What was wrong with the man? What did he ask Peter and John for?
“As they (Peter and John) approached the Temple, a man lame from birth was being carried in. Each day he was put beside the Temple gate, the one called the Beautiful Gate, so he could beg from the people going into the Temple. When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for some money.” (Acts 3:2, 3)
Did Peter and John have any money to give to the man? What did they have? What did they give to the man?
” Peter and John looked at him intently, and Peter said, ‘Look at us!’ 5The lame man looked at them eagerly, expecting some money. But Peter said, ‘I don’t have any silver or gold for you. But I’ll give you what I have. In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, get up and walk!’” (Acts 3:4-6)
What act of faith did Peter do to the man? What miracle happened to the man when he tried to stand up? How did the man respond?
“Then Peter took the lame man by the right hand and helped him up. And as he did, the man’s feet and ankles were instantly healed and strengthened. 8 He jumped up, stood on his feet, and began to walk! Then, walking, leaping, and praising God, he went into the Temple with them.” (Acts 3: 7, 8 )
With the power of the Holy Spirit upon them, suddenly the disciples could do the same things that they had seen Jesus doing. This fulfilled Jesus’ promise to them even greater miracles would they do than He had done.
Ask your children if they believe they can do the same and greather miracles than Jesus did in the power of the Holy Spirit. Ask them what opportunities God has placed in their paths like the lame man? Ask them how they want to pray and what act of faith do they want to do?
Pray with them and then help them go and act in faith. It is the faith like little children that we see if God’s desire for all of us.
