Leading Kids In A Special Prayer On July 4th

This 4th of July why not teach our kids about the importance of praying for leaders.  In 1 Timothy 2:1-2 Paul encourages Christ followers to be in prayer for those in leadership.

“I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone- for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.”

Prayer for our Leaders

During the celebration of 4th of July we are celebrating our independence as a nation, so why not take this opportunity to pray for the future of our country as well? These can be very simple prayers, but it tells our children that even though we may not agree always with our leadership, we want God to be the head of our nation, guiding those in office.  Maybe start off with asking them qualities they would like to see in their leaders- lover of Christ, ethical, open-hearted, etc- and then have them pray for those traits specifically.

Here is a fun coloring page for your children to do as a reminder for praying for our leaders.
