As the school year gets underway and your kids are back with all their friends, it might be a good time for a reminder to love your enemies. Often times in school kids can be either the bully that leaves others out or they can be the one who is bullied and left out. Maybe before you send off your son or daughter for their first day a little chat about loving those who are difficult to love would be a good idea.
“But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other also. If someone takes your cloak, do not stop him from taking your tunic. Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back.Do to others as you would have them do to you.”Luke 6:27-31
So here is the big idea of that verse for your kids.
Just because someone hurts your feelings or is unkind to you does not mean you hate them or treat them unkindly back. Pray for them instead. Treat other kids the way you want to be treated.
The most important part of those verses I think is that we are to pray for those who are mean to us and let God handle it!
