We are starting up another school year and I am sure that your kids are getting excited about seeing all their friends again. Before we send them off though we may want to sit them down for a little chat about loving their neighbors. First, begin by asking them who are their neighbors going to be this year- their teachers, classmates, etc. Second, ask what it looks like to love them. For loving a teacher it could be to listen to them and be respectful. For a classmate it could be sharing and encouraging each other. Finally, ask them how do they love the new students who may be in their classes- ask them to play with them at recess or sit next to them during lunch. These may seem very basic and obvious, but sometimes we need a little refresher course since it does not always come naturally. Happy School Year!
“The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:31
