In 1997 Tim Borland began running simply out of a desire to lose weight. Today however he runs for a much greater purpose- to help raise awareness and funds for children suffering from Ataxia Telangiectasia. A-T is a rare genetic disease that attacks children, which causes the loss of muscle control, a decrease in immune system, and a high chance for cancer. The best part about this story is that God was the one who inspired him to run for a higher purpose than just his own fitness. Last fall he ran a full 26.3 miles each day for 63 days with a stroller. He ran in 63 communities across the states.

This is a great story to share with your kids because it is so encouraging. You can use the things you are skilled at or love to minister and bless someone else. That is really all that Tim is doing. He saw a need and realized that he wanted to help and honor God with his passion for running.
