“Then Jesus said to his host, ‘When you give a luncheon or dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers or relatives, or your rich neighbors; if you do, they may invite you back and so you will be repaid. 13 But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, 14 and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous” ‘. Luke 14:12-14
Sometimes our kids think that because they have their friends over they are serving them. Or maybe if they trade their friend chocolate for carrots then they are serving. According to this verse however the real joy of serving comes when we get nothing in return from that person. Today take the time to remind your kids what real serving looks like. Start the conversation with what they think serving is. If they are on track then that is great! If they need a little refresher conversation then use this verse to remind them!
