Teach Your Kids Team Work Through The Olympics

“Above all, you must live as citizens of heaven, conducting yourselves in a manner worthy of the Good News about Christ. Then, whether I come and see you again or only hear about you, I will know that you are standing together with one spirit and one purpose, fighting together for the faith, which is the Good News.” Philippians 1:27

This verse clearly shows that God wants His followers to live life well together in community.  But how do we teach this concept to our kids, teamwork can be a hard concept not only for children but also adults.  The Olympic relay races are a great way of explaining to your kids the importance of working together.  Talk about the idea that in a relay race it is four people who have to do their absolute best and then let someone else do their absolute best, etc.  If one person makes a mistake the whole team suffers, but if everyone does well then everyone wins!  Its the same in life.  If we want to get something done we all have to do our part and work hard so that everyone can win!

A great clip to watch would be from the Beijing Olympics 2008, when the U.S. beat France in  the swim 4×200 relay race.

If all 4 men had not been working together, then that win would never have been possible!
