Teaching children about the Bible miracles is important because it helps them to see how nothing is impossible for God. If God can do miracles in the Bible, He can do them in our children’s lives today. Here is an easy way to do that interactively.
Today let’s focus on a Bible miracle from the book of Jonah: The miracle of the storm that God brought to get Jonah’s attention. (Jonah 1:4-16)
Jonah had been called by God to go and preach repentance to Nineveh, the capital city of Israel’s enemy, Assyria. Jonah hated the Assyrians and fled from God by getting on a ship that was headed for Tarshish.
Ask the children…
What did God do to get Jonah’s attention?
“But the Lord sent out a great wind on the sea, and there was a mighty tempest on the sea, so that the ship was about to be broken up.” (Jonah 1:4))
The sailors believed that this storm was from the hand of God and was directed towards someone on the ship. How did they discover who that was?
“So they cast lots, and the lot fell on Jonah.” (Jonah 1:7)
Jonah told them that he was running away from God and that if they threw him into the sea, that they would be saved. The sailors didn’t want to do this and continued to fight the storm. What happened when they finally threw Jonah overboard?
“So they picked up Jonah and threw him into the sea, and the sea ceased from its raging.” (Jonah 1:15)
God doesn’t give up on us even if we rebel against Him. He always has our best interest at heart and will reach out and get our attention. What is God asking of you? Where is God getting your attention today?
Now you can see how Bible miracles are God’s way of blessing the world. Glory to Him!!!
