Teaching children about the Bible miracles is important because it helps them to see how nothing is impossible for God. If God can do miracles in the Bible, He can do them in our children’s lives today. Here is an easy way to do that interactively.
Today let’s focus on a Bible miracle from the book of 2 Kings: The Miracle of a floating axehead. (2 Kings 6:1-7)
Elisha was with a group of prophets one day and they were cutting down trees near the Jordan River in order to build a place for them to live. The axehead flew off the shaft of one of the prophets and sunk in the river. The prophet was dismayed because he had borrowed the axe.
Ask the children…
How did Elisha respond and what miracle happened?
“’Where did it fall?’ the man of God asked. When he showed him the place, Elisha cut a stick and threw it into the water at that spot. Then the ax head floated to the surface.” (2 Kings 6:6)
Why did Elisha ask the prophet to do the next thing?
“’Grab it,’ Elisha said. And the man reached out and grabbed it.” (2 Kings 6:7)
Elisha asked the prophet to reach out and grab it so he could have it back but more importantly to validate that this wasn’t a trick. This was the real axehead. Again it was an act of faith brought about by the miracle. Let’s look for acts of faith we can do today as God works His miracles in our lives.
Now you can see how Bible miracles are God’s way of blessing the world. Glory to Him!!!
