Teaching Children About Bible Miracles – Daniel’s Favor With The King Before Daniel Is Miraculously Saved In The Lion’s Den, Part 1

Daniel Lions Den

Teaching children about the Bible miracles is important because it helps them to see how nothing is impossible for God.  If God can do miracles in the Bible, He can do them in our children’s lives today.  Here is an easy way to do that interactively.

Today let’s focus on a Bible miracle from the book of Daniel:   Daniel’s favor with the King before he is saved in the lion’s den. (Daniel 6)

Daniel was placed in charge of King Darius’ 120 advisors and governors.  Because of his wisdom, Daniel was made second in command over the Median kingdom even though he was a slave in exile from his homeland.  All the advisors and governors were jealous of Daniel and looked for an opportunity to discredit Daniel before King Darius.  They tricked King Darius into signing a decree that for 30 days no one could pray to anyone but the King and if anyone broke this decree, they would be cast into the lion’s den.

Ask the children…

What did Daniel do when he heard about this decree?

“But when Daniel learned that the law had been signed, he went home and knelt down as usual in his upstairs room, with its windows open toward Jerusalem.  He prayed three times a day, just as he had always done, giving thanks to God.”  (Daniel 6:10)

So Daniel wasn’t afraid of men and prayed like always and entrusted himself to God.  How did the King feel about Daniel when he realized he had been tricked and had to throw Daniel into the lion’s den?

“Hearing this, the king was deeply troubled, and he tried to think of a way to save Daniel.  He spent the rest of the day looking for a way to get Daniel out of this predicament.” (Daniel 6:14)

God had given Daniel such miraculous favor with the King that the King tried everything he could think of to get Daniel out of the situation.  Even in a world full of evil, God can give us favor with worldly powers because we have the answer to the world’s problems and the power and wisdom of God backing us up.

Now you can see how Bible miracles are God’s way of blessing the world.  Glory to Him!!!
