Teaching children about the Bible miracles is important because it helps them to see how nothing is impossible for God. If God can do miracles in the Bible, He can do them in our children’s lives today. Here is an easy way to do that interactively.
Today let’s focus on a Bible miracle from the book of 2 Samuel: David’s Census Causes God’s Judgment (2 Samuel 24:1-25)
During his reign, King David decided he wanted to take a census and count all of his armies. His commander Joab warned David not to do it but David persisted. This census showed that David trusted more in the numbers of his army than he did in God.
Ask the children…
How did God confirm to David that he had done wrong?
“But after he had taken the census, David’s conscience began to bother him. And he said to the LORD, ‘I have sinned greatly by taking this census. Please forgive my guilt, LORD, for doing this foolish thing.’” (2 Samuel 24:10)
David went to a prophet Gad to ask him what to do. God told Gad to tell David that he could choose one of three things as the nation’s punishment. What were those things?
“So Gad came to David and asked him, ‘Will you choose three years of famine throughout your land, three months of fleeing from your enemies, or three days of severe plague throughout your land? Think this over and decide what answer I should give the LORD who sent me.’” (2 Samuel 24:13)
David chose the plague since he believed that God would be merciful upon the people. And it came to pass that after 70,000 had died that God was merciful and David repented and was restored through the act of buying a piece of land, building an altar and offering sacrifices there. We will all make mistakes in life, God just wants us to admit those mistakes to Him and to turn away from them and trust Him.
Now you can see how Bible miracles are God’s way of blessing the world. Glory to Him!!!
