Teaching children about the Bible miracles is important because it helps them to see how nothing is impossible for God. If God can do miracles in the Bible, He can do them in our children’s lives today. Here is an easy way to do that interactively.
Today let’s focus on a Bible miracle from the book of 2 Kings: Elijah brings Fire from Heaven on two sets of Ahaziah’s Men (2 Kings 1:1-15)
Ahaziah became king of Israel after the death of Ahab. Ahaziah was injured from a fall one day and sent messengers to inquire from the God of Ekron whether he would recover. Elijah the man of God heard about this inquiry from an angel, the angel told Elijah to intercept these messengers and tell them that Ahaziah would die from his wounds because he had inquired of a foreign god rather than the God of Israel. So king Ahaziah sent a captain with 50 men after Elijah.
Ask the children…
What did Elijah say would happen if he was truly a man of God?
“But Elijah replied to the captain, ‘If I am a man of God, let fire come down from heaven and destroy you and your fifty men!’ Then fire fell from heaven and killed them all.” (2 Kings 1:10)
After the king sent another captain and 50 men and fire came and killed them too, the king sent a 3rd group. This group pleaded for mercy and Elijah went with them to the king and Elijah told Ahaziah what would happen to him. Did the Lord fulfill His promise?
“So Ahaziah died, just as the LORD had promised through Elijah.” (2 Kings 1:17)
God always fulfills His promises. He did it then, He does it now.
Now you can see how Bible miracles are God’s way of blessing the world. Glory to Him!!!
