Teaching children about the Bible miracles is important because it helps them to see how nothing is impossible for God. If God can do miracles in the Bible, He can do them in our children’s lives today. Here is an easy way to do that interactively.
Today let’s focus on a Bible miracle from the book of 1 Kings: A Elijah calls down rain and the drought ends (1 Kings 18:41-45)
Elijah had prophesied to evil king Ahab that it would not rain again until he prayed. And it did not rain and there was a severe drought in the land. Elijah stood for the one true God at a time when God’s People had turned their backs on God and worshipped the false God Baal along with evil king Ahab. Here is another instance where God proves Himself as the one true God.
Ask the children…
What did Elijah tell Ahab was going to happen?
“Then Elijah said to Ahab, ‘Go get something to eat and drink, for I hear a mighty rainstorm coming!’” (1 Kings 18:41)
Elijah went up to pray on Mt. Carmel and what happened?
“Then he said to his servant, ‘Go and look out toward the sea.’ The servant went and looked, then returned to Elijah and said, ‘I didn’t see anything.’ Seven times Elijah told him to go and look. Finally the seventh time, his servant told him, ‘I saw a little cloud about the size of a man’s hand rising from the sea.’ Then Elijah shouted, ‘Hurry to Ahab and tell him, ‘Climb into your chariot and go back home. If you don’t hurry, the rain will stop you!’’” (1 Kings 18:43, 44)
And what miracle did God do in response to Elijah’s faithful prayer?
“And soon the sky was black with clouds. A heavy wind brought a terrific rainstorm, and Ahab left quickly for Jezreel.” (1 Kings 18:45)
Sometimes we have to persist in prayer even when we can’t see the answer coming.
Now you can see how Bible miracles are God’s way of blessing the world. Glory to Him!!!
