Teaching children about the Bible miracles is important because it helps them to see how nothing is impossible for God. If God can do miracles in the Bible, He can do them in our children’s lives today. Here is an easy way to do that interactively.
Today let’s focus on a Bible miracle from the book of 1 Kings: Elijah Journeys 40 days and nights without Food or Water (1 Kings 19:6-8)
After Elijah’s great victory over the 450 prophets of Baal, praying for rain to end the drought and running faster than king Ahab’s chariot for 15 miles, Elijah has to contend with queen Jezebel. Despite all of his victories, when Jezebel threatens Elijah, he flees in fear to Beersheba. God sends an angel to come and feed Elijah to strengthen his spirit and his body for what is ahead.
Ask the children…
What did the angel feed Elijah?
“He looked around and there beside his head was some bread baked on hot stones and a jar of water!” (1 Kings 19:6)
What was God preparing Elijah for?
“’Get up and eat some more, or the journey ahead will be too much for you.’” (1 Kings 19:7)
What did the food and water enable Elijah to do?
“So he got up and ate and drank, and the food gave him enough strength to travel forty days and forty nights to Mount Sinai, the mountain of God.” (1 Kings 19:8)
Have you ever felt so tired that you couldn’t go on? Did you cry out to God and tell Him? Elijah did and God provided a supernatural meal that strengthened Elijah to supernaturally travel for 40 days and nights without eating or drinking.
Now you can see how Bible miracles are God’s way of blessing the world. Glory to Him!!!
