Teaching Children About Bible Miracles – Elisha Parts The Jordan River

Elisha

Teaching children about the Bible miracles is important because it helps them to see how nothing is impossible for God.  If God can do miracles in the Bible, He can do them in our children’s lives today.  Here is an easy way to do that interactively.

Today let’s focus on a Bible miracle from the book of 2 Kings:   Elijah parts the Jordan River (2 Kings 2:12-14)

Elisha saw Elijah taken up into heaven in a Chariot of Fire.  Elisha picked up Elijah’s cloak, symbolizing his desire to carry on Elijah’s ministry.  Let’s see what happened next.

Ask the children…

What did Elisha do with Elijah’s cloak?

“He struck the water with Elijah’s cloak and cried out,

‘Where is the LORD, the God of Elijah?’” (2 Kings 2:14)

What did God do for Elisha just like He had done for Elijah?

“Then the river divided, and Elisha went across.” (2 Kings 2:14)

God showed that the same power that was upon Elijah was now upon Elisha by dividing the waters of the same Jordan River.  That same power is upon each one of us today that has Jesus living inside us through the Holy Spirit.  Why not walk in the power of Elijah and Elijah today?

Now you can see how Bible miracles are God’s way of blessing the world.  Glory to Him!!!
