Teaching children about the Bible miracles is important because it helps them to see how nothing is impossible for God. If God can do miracles in the Bible, He can do them in our children’s lives today. Here is an easy way to do that interactively.
Today let’s focus on a Bible miracle from the book of Luke: Elizabeth becomes pregnant. (Luke 1:1-25)
Zacharias was a priest. He and his wife Elizabeth were childless and were now old. Zacharias was serving in the Temple and an angel of the Lord appeared to Zacharias and told him something wonderful would happen.
Ask the children…
What did the angel promise to Zacharias?
“’Don’t fear Zacharias. Your prayer has been heard. Elizabeth, your wife, will bear a son to you. You are to name him John.’” (Luke 1:13)
What miracle happened to Elizabeth?
“When the course of his (Zacharias) priestly assignment was completed, he went back home. It wasn’t long before his wife, Elizabeth conceived.” (Luke 1:23, 24)
How did Elizabeth respond?
“She went off by herself for five months, relishing her pregnancy. ‘So, this is how God acts to remedy my unfortunate condition!’ she said.” (Luke 1:24, 25)
God did just what He said He would. He caused an old woman to get pregnant. But this just wasn’t any child. This was John the Baptist that would be the one who would prepare the way for the Lord.
God is fulfilling His plan every day and using ordinary people like you and me. Let’s faithfully look for God’s plan for us today and rejoice like Elizabeth in what God does.
Now you can see how Bible miracles are God’s way of blessing the world. Glory to Him!!!
