Teaching Children About Bible Miracles – Gideon And The Defeat Of The Midianites

Giideon and the Midianites

Teaching children about the Bible miracles is important because it helps them to see how nothing is impossible for God.  If God can do miracles in the Bible, He can do them in our children’s lives today.  Here is an easy way to do that interactively.

Today let’s focus on a Bible miracle from the book of Judges:  Gideon and defeat of the Midianites (Judges 7)

God raised up Gideon as a Judge to overthrow the Iraelites’ enemy the Midianites.  God whittled down Gideon’s forces from 32,000 to just 300 men so that God could show Gideon and all His people that the battle would be won by God and not man.  Midian had a force of approximately 132,000.

Ask the children…

What did Gideon lead his 300 warriors in doing to initiate the battle?

“Then all three groups blew their horns and broke their jars. They held the blazing torches in their left hands and the horns in their right hands, and they all shouted, ‘A sword for the LORD and for Gideon!’” (Judges 7:20)

What did God cause to happen?

“When the 300 Israelites blew their rams’ horns, the LORD caused the warriors in the camp to fight against each other with their swords. Those who were not killed fled to places as far away as Beth-shittah near Zererah and to the border of Abel-meholah near Tabbath.” (Judges 7:22)

God really won the battle for His People that day but He used the leadership of Gideon, who trusted God to win the battle.

Now you can see how Bible miracles are God’s way of blessing the world.  Glory to Him!!!
