Teaching children about the Bible miracles is important because it helps them to see how nothing is impossible for God. If God can do miracles in the Bible, He can do them in our children’s lives today. Here is an easy way to do that interactively.
Today let’s focus on a Bible miracle from the book of 2 Kings: God provides food for a city under siege. (2 Kings 6:24-7:20)
The king of Assyria came to lay siege to city of Samaria and the king of Israel. It got so bad that a donkey’s head sold for 80 pieces of silver. The king of Israel blamed this on Elisha, the man of God, and sent to have him killed.
Ask the children…
What did Elisha say would happen?
“Elisha replied, ‘Listen to this message from the LORD! This is what the LORD says: By this time tomorrow in the markets of Samaria, five quarts of choice flour will cost only one piece of silver, and ten quarts of barley grain will cost only one piece of silver.’” (2 Kings 7:1)
Some lepers were starving and thought that they might as well go out and give themselves up the Assyrians since they were starving anyway. What did they find?
“So they went back to the city and told the gatekeepers what had happened. ‘We went out to the Assyrian camp,’ they said, ‘and no one was there! The horses and donkeys were tethered and the tents were all in order, but there wasn’t a single person around!’” (2 Kings 7:10)
What did the Assyrian army leave behind just as the Elisha had prophesied?
“Then the people of Samaria rushed out and plundered the Assyrian camp. So it was true that five quarts of choice flour were sold that day for one piece of silver, and ten quarts of barley grain were sold for one piece of silver, just as the LORD had promised.” (2 Kings 7:16)
God can do miracles far beyond anything we can imagine. Just like causing the Assyrian army to flee and leave behind all their food.
Now you can see how Bible miracles are God’s way of blessing the world. Glory to Him!!!
