Teaching children about the Bible miracles is important because it helps them to see how nothing is impossible for God. If God can do miracles in the Bible, He can do them in our children’s lives today. Here is an easy way to do that interactively.
Today let’s focus on a Bible miracle from the book of Luke: Jesus heals Simon’s mother-in-law. (Luke 4:38-40; Matthew 8:14-17 Mark 1:29-31)
Just after casting the demon out of a man at the synagogue on the Sabbath, Jesus went to Simon’s house.
Ask the children…
What was the matter with Simon’s mother-in-law?
“After leaving the synagogue that day, Jesus went to Simon’s home, where he found Simon’s mother-in-law very sick with a high fever.” (Luke 4:38 )
How did the people want Jesus to do?
“’Please heal her,’ everyone begged.” (Luke 4:38)
What did Jesus do and what did Simon’s mother-in-law do?
“Standing at her bedside, he rebuked the fever, and it left her. And she got up at once and prepared a meal for them.” (Luke 4:39)
Jesus could immediately heal even a fever. And when he did Simon’s mother-in-law got up and prepared a meal. The ministry of healing is to enable us to use our gifts and serve.
Ask your children what healing they have received from sicknesses even if it is not instantaneous? Ask them how they are using their skills to serve others as a result?
