Teaching children about the Bible miracles is important because it helps them to see how nothing is impossible for God. If God can do miracles in the Bible, He can do them in our children’s lives today. Here is an easy way to do that interactively.
Today let’s focus on a Bible miracle from the book of John: Jesus turns water into wine at a wedding feast. (John 2:1-11)
Immediately following Jesus’ selection of His disciples, they attended a wedding feast inCana. There Jesus did the first of his many miracles.
Ask the children…
What was the problem that prompted the miracle?
“The wine supply ran out during the festivities, so Jesus’ mother told him, ‘They have no more wine.’” (John 2:3)
Having the wine run out would be a great embarrassment to the bride’s family, so Jesus’ mother turns to Him to see if there is anything that He can do. What did Jesus do?
“Jesus told the servants, ‘Fill the jars with water.’ When the jars had been filled, he said, ‘Now dip some out, and take it to the master of ceremonies.’” (John 2:7, 8)
What did the master of ceremonies say regarding this water that had now turned to wine?
“’A host always serves the best wine first,’ he said. ‘Then, when everyone has had a lot to drink, he brings out the less expensive wine. But you have kept the best until now!’” (John 2:10)
Not only did Jesus turn the water into wine, but He made the best wine. As a result His disciples believed in Him.
That is was what miracles are all about. God intervenes to benefit His children here on this earth and to reveal His glory so that we may believe. What miracle has God done in your life lately and did it cause you to increase your belief in Him? If not, ask Him for a miracle and the faith to believe.
