Teaching children about the Bible miracles is important because it helps them to see how nothing is impossible for God. If God can do miracles in the Bible, He can do them in our children’s lives today. Here is an easy way to do that interactively.
Today let’s focus on a Bible miracle from the book of Leviticus: The Miracle of the Judgement on Nadab and Abihu (Leviticus 10:1-7)
Nadab and Abihu were sons of Aaron, Moses’ brother. They were two of the five newly installed priests. They were to teach God’s People how to follow the Law and to represent God’s People before a holy God. They made a terrible mistake and paid for it with their lives.
Ask the children…
What did Nadab and Abihu do that was wrong?
“Aaron’s sons Nadab and Abihu put coals of fire in their incense burners and sprinkled incense over them. In this way, they disobeyed the LORD by burning before him the wrong kind of fire, different than he had commanded.” (Leviticus 10:1)
To be specific, they did 3 things wrong: (1) they put the wrong fire in their vessels; (2) they used the wrong vessels; (3) Aaron the High Priest was supposed to do this and not them.
What happened to them?
“So fire blazed forth from the LORD’s presence and burned them up, and they died there before the LORD.” (Leviticus 10:2)
Why did they die when came improperly into God’s presence?
“Then Moses said to Aaron, ‘This is what the LORD meant when he said, ‘I will display my holiness through those who come near me. I will display my glory before all the people.’’ And Aaron was silent.” (Leviticus 10:3)
As an Old Testament priest, coming before a holy God takes careful preparation and obedience to God’s Law. Today we as Christians are all holy priests because the blood of Christ. We can come into God’s presence anytime and anywhere.
Now you can see how Bible miracles are God’s way of blessing the world. Glory to Him!!!
