Teaching Children About Bible Miracles – Samson Tears Down The Temple Of Dagon

Samson Temple

Teaching children about the Bible miracles is important because it helps them to see how nothing is impossible for God.  If God can do miracles in the Bible, He can do them in our children’s lives today.  Here is an easy way to do that interactively.

Today let’s focus on a Bible miracle from the book of Judges: Samson’s Tears Down the Temple of Dagon (Judges 16:23-31)

God raised up Samson as a Judge to lead the Israelites to torment their enemy the Philistines.  After the Philistines captured Samson because he let Delilah cut his hair, they blinded him and made him a slave and forced him to push a heavy stone to grind wheat.

Ask the children…

What was the big party the Philistines were having and why were they so happy?

“The Philistine rulers held a great festival, offering sacrifices and praising their god, Dagon. They said, ‘Our god has given us victory over our enemy Samson!’” (Judges 16:23)

What did they do to Samson to amuse themselves?

“Half drunk by now, the people demanded, ‘Bring out Samson so he can amuse us!’ So he was brought from the prison to amuse them, and they had him stand between the pillars supporting the roof.”  (Judges 16:25)

What did Samson pray to God for?

“Then Samson prayed to the LORD, ‘Sovereign LORD, remember me again. O God, please strengthen me just one more time. With one blow let me pay back the Philistines for the loss of my two eyes.’”  (Judges 16:28)

What miracle did God allow Samson to do?

“Then Samson put his hands on the two center pillars that held up the temple. Pushing against them with both hands, he prayed, ‘Let me die with the Philistines.’ And the temple crashed down on the Philistine rulers and all the people. So he killed more people when he died than he had during his entire lifetime.” (Judges 16:29, 30)

God allowed Samson one final miracle to avenge himself on the Philistines when Samson prayed.  Even when we sin, God doesn’t give up on us, He is always waiting for us to turn back to Him.

Now you can see how Bible miracles are God’s way of blessing the world.  Glory to Him!!!
