Teaching children about the Bible miracles is important because it helps them to see how nothing is impossible for God. If God can do miracles in the Bible, He can do them in our children’s lives today. Here is an easy way to do that interactively.
Today let’s focus on a Bible miracle from the book of Matthew: Jesus’ baptism by the Holy Spirit and God’s declaration of love. (Matthew 3:13-17; Luke 3:21, 22; Mark 1:9-11)
John the Baptist came preaching repentance in order to get God’s People ready for the coming of the Lord Jesus. One day Jesus came to John at the Jordan River and was baptized by John. This was the beginning of Jesus’ 3 year ministry leading up to His death and resurrection. What happened right after Jesus’ physical baptism was a miracle.
Ask the children…
What miracle happened when Jesus came out of the Jordan?
“Jesus came up immediately from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to Him,” (Matthew 3:16))
What did Jesus see?
“and He was the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on Him.” (Matthew 3:16)
What did God say?
“And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, ‘This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.’” (Matthew 3:17)
Isn’t it wonderful to know that God was well pleased with His Son. He demonstrated it by opening up the heavens and sending His Holy Spirit upon Jesus. God is just as well pleased with each of us today that know Jesus. God has sent His Holy Spirit upon us to show how much He loves us. Why not rejoice in God’s wonderful love for you and thank Him.
Now you can see how Bible miracles are God’s way of blessing the world. Glory to Him!!!
