Teaching Children About Bible Miracles – The Bronze Serpent

The Bronze serpent

Teaching children about the Bible miracles is important because it helps them to see how nothing is impossible for God.  If God can do miracles in the Bible, He can do them in our children’s lives today.  Here is an easy way to do that interactively.

Today let’s focus on a Bible miracle from the book of Numbers;  The Bronze Serpent (Numbers 21:4-9)

God’s People were moving towards their Promised Land but taking the long way around to avoid the land of Edom.  As a result of the journey’s hardships and because the people felt they were getting further away from their destination, not closer, they began to complain again against God and Moses.

Ask the children…

When the people complained and displayed a lack of trust in God, what did God do?

“So the LORD sent poisonous snakes among the people, and many were bitten and died.” (Numbers 21:6)

How did the people respond?

“Then the people came to Moses and cried out, ‘We have sinned by speaking against the LORD and against you. Pray that the LORD will take away the snakes.’ So Moses prayed for the people.” (Numbers 21:7)

What did God ask Moses to do and what was the result?

“Then the LORD told him, ‘Make a replica of a poisonous snake and attach it to a pole. All who are bitten will live if they simply look at it!’ So Moses made a snake out of bronze and attached it to a pole. Then anyone who was bitten by a snake could look at the bronze snake and be healed!”  (Number 21:8, 9)

The people were healed if they had faith to look at the bronze snake attached to the pole.  Reminds us of how we are healed of sin by believing in Jesus who was nailed to a pole and lifted up.

Now you can see how Bible miracles are God’s way of blessing the world.  Glory to Him!!!
