Teaching Children About Bible Miracles – The Day The Sun Stood Still

The Day the Sun Stood Still

Teaching children about the Bible miracles is important because it helps them to see how nothing is impossible for God.  If God can do miracles in the Bible, He can do them in our children’s lives today.  Here is an easy way to do that interactively.

Today let’s focus on a Bible miracle from the book of Joshua:  The Day the Sun Stood Still (Joshua 10:12-14)

While God’s People (Israel) are in the midst of fighting against 5 Amorite kings and routing them with their own swords and by hailstones from heaven, Joshua, Israel’s leader, realizing that they need more daylight to complete their victory, prayed and asked God to do an amazing miracle…

Ask the children…

What did Joshua ask God to do?

“On the day the LORD gave the Israelites victory over the Amorites, Joshua prayed to the LORD in front of all the people of Israel. He said, ‘Let the sun stand still over Gibeon, and the moon over the valley of Aijalon.’” (Joshua 10:12)

What happened?

“So the sun stood still and the moon stayed in place until the nation of Israel had defeated its enemies. Is this event not recorded in The Book of Jashar? The sun stayed in the middle of the sky, and it did not set as on a normal day.” (Joshua 10:13)

How incredible was this miracle?

“There has never been a day like this one before or since, when the LORD answered such a prayer.” (Joshua 10:14)

Now you can see how Bible miracles are God’s way of blessing the world.  Glory to Him!!!
