Teaching children about the Bible miracles is important because it helps them to see how nothing is impossible for God. If God can do miracles in the Bible, He can do them in our children’s lives today. Here is an easy way to do that interactively.
Today let’s focus on a Bible miracle from the book of John: Jesus heals the government official’s son. (John 4:46-54)
After bringing many in the region of Samariainto the Kingdom of God, Jesus came back once again to Cana of Galilee where He had turned the water into wine. Along the way a certain government official met him and requested something from Jesus.
Ask the children…
What did this government official ask for Jesus to do?
“When he heard that Jesus had come from Judea to Galilee, he went and begged Jesus to come to Capernaum to heal his son, who was about to die.” (John 4:47)
What did Jesus tell the man and what did the man do?
“Then Jesus told him, ‘Go back home. Your son will live!’ And the man believed what Jesus said and started home.” (John 4:50)
What did the government official hear on his way back home?
“While the man was on his way, some of his servants met him with the news that his son was alive and well.” (John 4:50)
Jesus could heal with just a word. He didn’t even need to be in the same location as the healing.
The words of God are so powerful. When they are spoken by Jesus or by one of us, God’s kingdom power comes flowing into this world not only where we are but in any place that we direct it to. Knowing this you can teach your children that when they pray or speak God’s word, there is power in those words that they are releasing into this world.
