Teaching Children About Bible Miracles – The King Of Assyria Is Sent Home By The Lord

King of Assyria

Teaching children about the Bible miracles is important because it helps them to see how nothing is impossible for God.  If God can do miracles in the Bible, He can do them in our children’s lives today.  Here is an easy way to do that interactively.

Today let’s focus on a Bible miracle from the book of 2 Kings:   God sends the King of Assyria Home. (2 Kings 18:13-19:37)

King Sennacherib of Assyria came to make war against Israel’s King Hezzekiah.  King Hezzekiah gave King Sennacherib great amounts of gold and silver to make him go away, but it didn’t work. Sennacherib wanted to take the people of Israel into captivity and make them go with him back to Assyria.  Sennacherib taunted Hezzekiah that his God could not assist Hezzikiah against Sennacherib’s power.  King Hezzekiah prayed and asked God for help.

Ask the children…

What did God say through the prophet Isaiah in answer to King Hezzekiah?

“The prophet replied, ‘Say to your master, ‘This is what the LORD says: Do not be disturbed by this blasphemous speech against me from the Assyrian king’s messengers. Listen! I myself will move against him, and the king will receive a message that he is needed at home. So he will return to his land, where I will have him killed with a sword.’’” (2 Kings 19:6, 7)

What message did God have sent to the King Sennacherib?

“Soon afterward King Sennacherib received word that King Tirhakah of Ethiopia was leading an army to fight against him.” (2 Kings 19:9)

What did finally happened to King Sennacherib?

“One day while he (King Sennacherib) was worshiping in the temple of his god Nisroch, his sons Adrammelech and Sharezer killed him with their swords.”  (2 Kings 19:37)

So in the end, the power of even a king cannot thwart God.  Men think they make plans and are in charge of their destiny, but it is God who is ultimately in charge.  To think otherwise is the great folly of man.

Now you can see how Bible miracles are God’s way of blessing the world.  Glory to Him!!!
