Teaching Children About Bible Miracles – The Lord Sends Thunder And Rain

The Lord Sends Thunder And Rain

Teaching children about the Bible miracles is important because it helps them to see how nothing is impossible for God.  If God can do miracles in the Bible, He can do them in our children’s lives today.  Here is an easy way to do that interactively.

Today let’s focus on a Bible miracle from the book of 1 Samuel:  The Lord sends Thunder and Rain (1 Samuel 12:16-25)

Samuel was the last judge of God’s People (Israel).  God has always been their king, but the people were wicked and wanted a human king instead so they could be like their evil neighbors.  Although God gave them what they requested, there was a price to pay.

Ask the children…

What was the punishment that Samuel predicted would happen to the people for wanting a human king?

“You know that it does not rain at this time of the year during the wheat harvest. I will ask the LORD to send thunder and rain today. Then you will realize how wicked you have been in asking the LORD for a king!” (1 Samuel 12:17)

How did God’s People respond when God brought the judgment upon them?

“So Samuel called to the LORD, and the LORD sent thunder and rain that day. And all the people were terrified of the LORD and of Samuel. Pray to the LORD your God for us, or we will die!” they all said to Samuel. ‘For now we have added to our sins by asking for a king.’” (1 Samuel 12:18, 19)

Fortunately we have a God who knows we are going to make lots of mistakes.  In this case, after the people experienced the consequence for their sin and repent, He forgave His people for wanting a human king.  In our case, He is always ready to forgive us when we turn to Him when we have disobeyed Him.

Now you can see how Bible miracles are God’s way of blessing the world.  Glory to Him!!!
