Teaching Children About Bible Miracles – The Plague Of Hail

Teaching children about the Bible miracles is important because it helps them to see how nothing is impossible for God.  If God can do miracles in the Bible, He can do them in our children’s lives today.  Here is an easy way to do that interactively.

Today let’s focus on a Bible miracle from the book of Exodus:  The Plague of Hail.  (Exodus 9:13-35)

Remind your children that God’s children (The Jews) were now slaves in Egypt.  Moses and his brother Aaron have been called by God to tell Pharaoh (Egypt’s king) that He must let the Jews go.  Pharaoh had told them NO!

So God brought 10 miraculous plagues to convince Pharaoh to let His people go.  Here is the seventh plague.

Ask the children…

What were the Egyptians supposed to learn from this plague?

“If you don’t, I will send more plagues on you and your officials and your people. Then you will know that there is no one like me in all the earth.” (Exodus 9:14)

Instead of a series of plagues, what miracle could God have done so that His people could leave Egypt?  Why didn’t God do this?

“By now I could have lifted my hand and struck you and your people with a plague to wipe you off the face of the earth. But I have spared you for a purpose—to show you my power and to spread my fame throughout the earth.” (Exodus 9:15, 16)

How devastating was the hail storm God sent?

“Never in all the history of Egypt had there been a storm like that, with such devastating hail and continuous lightning. It left all of Egypt in ruins. The hail struck down everything in the open field—people, animals, and plants alike. Even the trees were destroyed.” (Exodus 9:24, 25)

How does Pharaoh respond this time?

“Then Pharaoh quickly summoned Moses and Aaron. ‘This time I have sinned,’ he confessed. ‘The LORD is the righteous one, and my people and I are wrong.’” (Exodus 9:27)

Poor Pharaoh, he appears to repent but as soon as the plague is removed, he hardens his heart.  Time for more plagues!

Now you can see how Bible miracles are God’s way of blessing the world.  Glory to Him!!!
