Teaching children about the Bible miracles is important because it helps them to see how nothing is impossible for God. If God can do miracles in the Bible, He can do them in our children’s lives today. Here is an easy way to do that interactively.
Today let’s focus on a Bible miracle from the book of 2 Samuel: Uzzah’s Death for Steadying the Ark (2 Samuel 6:1-8)
After the Ark of God had been stolen by the Philistines and then returned to God’s People (Israel), it had been left in the house of Abinadab because people died when they tried to move it improperly. David decided he wanted to bring the Ark back where it belonged, Jerusalem. The trouble was the people disobeyed by building a cart to move the Ark rather than have the Levites carry it on their shoulders as God had told them. Sin always has its consequences.
Ask the children…
What happened to the Ark and what did Uzzah have to do because it was on a cart being pulled by oxen rather than being carried by the Levites?
“But when they arrived at the threshing floor of Nacon, the oxen stumbled, and Uzzah reached out his hand and steadied the Ark of God.” (2 Samuel 6:6)
What was the consequence?
“Then the LORD’s anger was aroused against Uzzah, and God struck him dead because of this. So Uzzah died right there beside the Ark of God.” (2 Samuel 6:7)
God was serious about His instructions to the Israelites just like He is serious about His instructions to us today. For the Israelites it was about the holiness of God and how they were to carry the ark, for us it is about God’s plan for our lives. He gives us instructions and warnings in the Bible so that we will know how to best live in relationship with Him and in His kingdom.
Now you can see how Bible miracles are God’s way of blessing the world. Glory to Him!!!
