Teaching children about the Bible miracles is important because it helps them to see how nothing is impossible for God. If God can do miracles in the Bible, He can do them in our children’s lives today. Here is an easy way to do that interactively.
Today let’s focus on a Bible miracle from the book of Numbers; Water Coming from a Rock (Numbers 20:7-13)
While God’s People are wandering in the desert, they come to the wilderness of Zin. There is no water there and again they begin to grumble against Moses and Aaron and wishing they were back in Egypt.
Ask the children…
What did God instruct Moses to do?
“You and Aaron must take the staff and assemble the entire community. As the people watch, speak to the rock over there, and it will pour out its water. You will provide enough water from the rock to satisfy the whole community and their livestock.” (Numbers 20:8)
What did Moses actually do?
“Then Moses raised his hand and struck the rock twice with the staff, and water gushed out. So the entire community and their livestock drank their fill.” (Numbers 20:11)
Even though God chose to do a miracle, what were the consequences of Moses’ disobedience?
“But the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, ‘Because you did not trust me enough to demonstrate my holiness to the people of Israel, you will not lead them into the land I am giving them!‘” (Number 20:12)
Even though we don’t always understand why, God has a reason for asking us to do what He says. In this case, Moses appeared to be doing the miracle by striking the rock, while just speaking to it like God asked would have clearly shown that it was God working the miracle.
Now you can see how Bible miracles are God’s way of blessing the world. Glory to Him!!!
