Teaching Kids Key Life Learnings from 100 Biblical Characters: No. 1 – Adam

What key life learnings can we teach our kids from the life of Adam?

Context (Genesis 1-3):  Remember Adam was the first man that God created and put him in the midst of the Garden of Eden.  Adam was made in the image of God, named all the animals, tended the garden, walked with God and was the father of Cain, Abel and Seth and ultimately the human race.

Key Life Learnings To Teach Our Kids:

  • God loves each of us so much that just like Adam, God put us here in order to have a close relationship with Him.  Can you believe it, the creator the universe wants a friendship with you and me?
  • God gives each of us choice to love and obey Him or not.  God doesn’t want robots who have to obey Him, He wants us to be His friends.  Just like you choose your friends, we can choose to be friends with God.  He is the best friend.
  • We should not blame others for our faults.  When God asked Adam and Eve why they ate from the tree that He had told them not eat from, Adam blamed Eve.  God wants us to own our mistakes so we can get free from them and grow.
  • We can’t hide from God.  Adam and Eve were ashamed of their sin and tried to hide from God in the garden.  Of course God knew all about their sin and their trying to hide.  God knows whatever we do, but loves us anyway.  Let’s tell Him right away and not try to hide from Him.
