What practical key life learnings can we glean from the life of Hannah?
Context (1 Samuel 1, 2): Hannah was a woman who loved God but was sad because she could not have any children. She prayed with all her heart to the Lord that she could have a son. She promised God that if He gave to her a son that she would give him over to serve God all his life.
God answered Hannah’s prayer and gave her a son that she named Samuel. Hannah greatly rejoiced at God’s favor towards her. Good to her promise, she gave Samuel to the High Priest Eli to serve Eli and the Lord.
Key Life Learnings:
Rejoice and praise God for answered prayer (1 Samuel 2:1-10): When God answered Hannah’s prayer and gave her a son, she thanked God with all her heart. She said things like, “my heart rejoices in the Lord” and “no one is holy like you Lord”. She believed that God has answered her prayer and that it was not a coincidence. Therefore she thanked God.
What do we do when God answers our prayers? Sometimes we might just think it was a coincidence and it would have happened anyway. Other times we are just so busy that we forget to stop and thank God. Why not make it a point today to stop and thank God for something He has done for you? Why not think of an answer to prayer that He has done in the past and praise Him out loud right now? You will be glad you did.
