“Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.”- Proverbs 22:6
Teaching our kids about money doesn’t have to be one of those, figure it all out by yourself things. Check out the website Bible Money Matters. There are tons of links to online resources to help parents teach their children about money.
For example there is an resource called Thrive By Five that teaches preschoolers about money. With articles on “How can I teach my preschooler to wait to spend money?” parents can follow a step by step process for the best way to teach this to their young children. They even have these articles in Spanish.
A site called Sense and Dollars provides resources to teach teens and preteens about money. I particularly like the Dream Prom article as my son has a date and is just now working with his prom budget. First teens fill in the date of the prom. How much money they have for it? How much money their parents will contribute? If they have to buy a dress, or rent a tux, flowers, dinner and how to get to the event? It even covers the extras like pictures and things that come up that night. At the end it gives you a summary of whether you stayed in the budget or not. Great info. from someone else rather than the parent.
Thank you Bible Money Matters for organizing all of this information to help our kids learn to be wise with money.
If you like what you read, check out our children’s book, Hooked on the Book, on this website. It provides the Big Story behind all 66 books in the Bible including colorful illustrations, rhymes and a surprise on every page.
