The Big Idea Of 1 John Is Faith In The Loving Christ And Fellowship With His Family

Jesus’ disciple John writes to remind the church who Christ really is and how He brings love and fellowship with one another.

During this time, there were tricky teachers coming into the church who were teaching that Jesus didn’t come to earth in a real body.  They also taught that it doesn’t matter what you do on this earth, only what you know.

John wrote that he had seen and touched Jesus and that He was very real.  Jesus came down to this earth and loved His children and had fellowship with them.  Jesus rose from the dead and His children would to.

As a result John taught in this book that His children were loved by God their Father and

could have fellowship with Him and with one another.  Christians should separate from evil, reject tricky teachers and walk together in love.

Key New Testament Kids Application:

  1. The next time you serve bread at dinner, remind your children of the last supper and how Jesus broke bread and said that the broken bread was a reminder of His broken body.  Ask them if they can feel the broken bread.  That reminds them that Jesus’ really lived on this earth and his body was truly broken.  He came out of heaven and did this because He loves His children.
