Paul wrote to his young associate Timothy to teach him how to lead the church.

When Paul left the church of Ephesus, he left Timothy behind to lead the work.  This was a giant task because Timothy was still a relatively young man.

Paul instructed Timothy concerning correct teaching and how to worship and pray. He also wrote about qualities for selecting elders and deacons, defending against false teachers and how to lead and be an example of godly living.

Finally, Paul encouraged Timothy not to be shy about teaching and not to let anyone look down on his leadership because he was young.

Key New Testament Kids Application:

  1. We have all heard the expression, “out of the mouths of babes”.  Well, God does speak through young people.  Encourage your kids to lead a time of family bible study and worship.  You may have to help them think this through.  Keep it simple and offer plenty of encouragement.  Remind them that the Holy Spirit speaks to them just as much as He does adults.
