Paul wrote this letter to the Colossians to remind them that nothing compares to Christ, He is first in all things.

Some evil teachers had come into the Colossian church and persuaded them that there were things more important than Christ.  Things like keeping the Law, traditions of men and the worship of angels.

Paul writes to expose these false teachings and to point to Christ who is above all things.  Paul points out to the Colossians that it is Christ who saved them, and is causing them to grow in their relationships, service, prayer lives and sharing their faith.

Paul encourages the Colossians to focus on Christ who is the proper foundation for life.

Key New Testament Kid’s Application:

  1. Ask you kids what it means to put Christ first in their lives?Ask them why this is important?  Finally, ask them what gets in the way?  Pray with them about this.
