The Big Idea Of Galatians Is Setting The Church Free From Trying To Keep The Law Again

Paul wrote this letter to the churches of Galatia because he saw they were weighed down by guilt and trying to keep the Law again.

How often do we feel guilty because it seems we are not measuring up to God’s standard?  That is not what the Bible teaches.

Paul wrote to the Galatians and taught them that they were saved by faith in Christ alone, not by works.   Not only were they saved by faith, but they were to live every day by faith.  Christ had fulfilled all the Law and now all believers were free to follow God.

Paul warned against Jewish teachers who were trying to put the Galatian believers back under the Law.  Paul told the Galatians not to believe these teachers but to come back to the freedom that Christ gave them.

Paul encouraged the Galatians to use this freedom to forgive and care for one another.

Key New Testament Kids Application:

  1. As parents we feel responsible to encourage our kids to do obey us.  At the same time we want to them to know that we love them because they are our kids, not because they obey us. The next time your child disobeys you, take them aside and give them a big hug and remind them that your love is not about obedience, but because they are your kids.
