Are your kids having a bad day? Want to help them change their perspective without a lecture? Why not pick up the children’s book called, ‘The Donkey’s Tale’ by Margaret Grey. It is a great Easter story, but more than that it is an everyday story.
It begins with an “ordinary girl” and who felt inadequate to be used by Christ for anything. One day she meets a donkey and he tells her his story of how Jesus used him. Despite being seemingly insignificant, he got to carry Jesus into the city right before the end of Jesus’s life. The donkey shares his surprise of how Jesus picked him for that journey and the joy of what he learned.
The illustrations make the story magical. Done in a style similar to the children’s book, ‘Harold and the Purple Crayon.’ The “ordinary girl” draws her story as she talks. The donkey also draws his story with paint on his tail.
It is a wonderful subtle lesson about how God’s value system of worth is not based on the world’s system. Why not buy a copy of this inexpensive children’s book for your family library. ‘The Donkey’s Tale’ will surely become a family favorite.
