The Harvest Is Great But The Workers Are Few, Luke 10:2

Christmas Jesus’s birth

Jesus promised us there is a great harvest of souls, but the problem is there aren’t enough workers to bring it in.  (Luke 10:2)

Every year a local church in our town has put on a wonderful reenactment of the Streets of Bethlehem and the birth of Jesus and shared the good news of salvation.  For the past 20 years they have they have shared the good news but saw little result in terms of people coming to Christ.

What was the problem?  Was the message not going out?  No!  Were people not ready to give their hearts to Jesus?  No!

The problem was that that they had not sent out laborers in the field to bring in the harvest.

“The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.” (Luke 10:2)

This year God touched the heart of the church to reach out beyond their fellowship to request other believers gifted in evangelism and prayer to come and minister to the crowds.  And in so doing there was a harvest of over 200 souls for Christ.  When the people were given a personal appeal after their walk through the Streets of Bethlehem, they responded because Jesus had prepared their hearts.

How many people do you know that may be ready to be harvested for Jesus but they are left in the field unharvested because there was no on there to take in the harvest?  If we could all just get around to asking people if they are ready, we would be surprised how many have been prepared.
