Today let’s focus on teaching kids a Bible miracle from the book of Acts. God healed everyone that Peter’s shadow fell upon. (Acts 5:12-16).
The believer’s gathered daily at a part of the temple in Jerusalem called Solomon’s porch. The news of the miraculous healings taking place through the apostles was reaching out far and wide. Because of this people were doing something very unusual.
Ask the children…
What were the people doing and what were they hoping for?
“As a result of the apostles’ work, sick people were brought out into the streets on beds and mats so that Peter’s shadow might fall across some of them as he went by.” (Acts 5:14)
What did happen for all of these people?
“Crowds came from the villages around Jerusalem, bringing their sick and those possessed by evil spirits, and they were all healed.” (Acts 5:16)
It wasn’t just some of them that were healed. They were ALL healed. Just the passing of Peter’s shadow over the people as He walked by brought healing from every kind of ailment. Peter’s shadow represented the power of God reaching out to touch evcryone who believed.
Ask your children to go outside and look for their own shadow. If it is night they can do it by standing next to a light or by the light of the moon. Have someone lay down in their shadow and have your child walk by so their shadow moves over them. Ask them to describe in their own words this scene and how people must have felt before and after Peter’s shadow fell on them and they receive healing.
Ask the children where they need healing in their own lives. Pray with them that the power of God would come upon them to bring healing.
