Today let’s focus on a Bible miracle from the book of John. The soldiers cast lots for Jesus’s cloak (John 19:23, 24).
In the process of Jesus’ death, many different prophecies were fulfilled.
Ask the children…
What was prophecy spoken by King David so many years before Jesus?
“‘They divide my garments among themselves and throw dice for my clothing.'” (Psalm 22:18 )
What was the first fulfillment of prophecy?
“When the soldiers had crucified Jesus, they divided his clothes among the four of them. They also took his robe, but it was seamless, woven in one piece from top to bottom.” (John 19:23)
What was the second fulfillment of prophecy?
“So they said, ‘Rather than tearing it apart, let’s throw dice for it.’ This fulfilled the Scripture that says, ‘They divided my garments among themselves and threw dice for my clothing.’ So that is what they did.” (John 19:24)
Even all those years later, God controlled how Jesus’s cloak would not be torn apart but instead the soldiers would throw dice for it.
Ask your children if they think has enough control of this world to make all this work together for their good.
