Title: Teaching Children About Bible Miracles – Samson’s Hair Is Cut And He Loses His Strength

Samson and Delilah

Teaching children about the Bible miracles is important because it helps them to see how nothing is impossible for God.  If God can do miracles in the Bible, He can do them in our children’s lives today.  Here is an easy way to do that interactively.

Today let’s focus on a Bible miracle from the book of Judges:  Samson’s Hair is cut and he loses his Strength (Judges 16:4-22)

God raised up Samson as a Judge to lead the Israelites to torment their enemy the Philistines.  The Philistines paid Samson’s girlfriend, Delilah, to trick Samson and to find out where his great strength came from.

Ask the children…

What were the things that Samson told Delilah would take away his strength?

“Samson replied, ‘If I were tied up with seven new bowstrings that have not yet been dried, I would become as weak as anyone else’.” (Judges 16:7)

“Samson replied, ‘If I were tied up with brand-new ropes that had never been used, I would become as weak as anyone else.’”  (Judges 16:11)

“Samson replied, ‘If you were to weave the seven braids of my hair into the fabric on your loom and tighten it with the loom shuttle, I would become as weak as anyone else.’”  (Judges 16:13)

Did any of these things take Samson’s strength away?

“Then Delilah pouted, ‘How can you tell me, ‘I love you,’ when you don’t share your secrets with me? You’ve made fun of me three times now, and you still haven’t told me what makes you so strong!’” (Judges 16:15)

Where was Samson’s strength really found?

“Finally, Samson shared his secret with her. ‘My hair has never been cut,’ he confessed, ‘for I was dedicated to God as a Nazirite from birth. If my head were shaved, my strength would leave me, and I would become as weak as anyone else.’” (Judges 16:17)

It wasn’t in Samson’s hair that his real strength was found, it was in his vow to not have it cut and now that he was breaking that vow, God removed Samson’s strength.  When Delilah cut his hair, Samson was captured because his strength was removed.  The Philistines blinded him, put him in chains and made Samson their slave.  How sad!  And all because Samson broke his vow.

Now you can see how Bible miracles are God’s way of blessing the world.  Glory to Him!!!
