John 10:10 is a favorite bible memory verse, but how many know the story behind this verse?

“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.  I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

John was one of Jesus’ disciples.  He wrote this book to prove that Jesus was in fact God come here to earth to save people from their sins.

In John 10, Jesus describes Himself as the good shepherd who protects His sheep and they know Him and trust Him.  He wants His sheep to have any abundant life.

In contrast to that Jesus says that there are thieves who are looking to steal and destroy the sheep.  Jesus came for the benefit of His sheep to give them real life now and for all eternity.

Now you know the story behind John 10:10.
