“Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.”
Paul was a great missionary and went around planting churches everywhere. This particular letter he wrote to the church in Rome. Surprisingly he had never been there. The church was planted by those who had come to Christ and then went to Rome and started a church.
Paul wrote this letter to encourage the Roman church and to give them a proper foundation in their faith.
In chapter 10 Paul wrote about how God’s people (Israel) had rejected the message of Christ out of ignorance. They thought they could create their own righteousness rather than receive it as a free gift through faith in Christ. This broke God’s heart.
In Romans 10:17 Paul encouraged the Roman believers to proclaim this message to their brethren by speaking the word of God to them. This is a great blessing to all when the word of God goes out and people respond.
We can encourage our children that any of God’s words that they share with their friends, God will use it to inspire faith.
