“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”.
Paul was a great missionary and went around planting churches everywhere. This particular letter he wrote to the church in Philippi. Paul had planted this church on his second missionary journey.
Paul was writing this letter to the Philippians from a Roman prison. In addition to his present imprisonment he had experienced hunger and persecution numerous times. But Paul had also experienced joy and abundance.
He wrote this verse to remind the Philippians the no matter what challenge they were facing, it was the strength of Christ that would see them through. They could not rely on themselves or their circumstances, they could only rely on Christ’s strength.
