Paul teaching

Ephesians 2: 8, 9 is a favorite bible memory verse, but how many know the story behind the verse?

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast”.

Paul was a great missionary and went around planting churches everywhere.  This particular letter he wrote to the church in Ephesus.  Paul had planted this church and then came back later and stayed with the church at Ephesus for a few years.

Paul wrote this letter to the Ephesians because he wanted to remind them about the incredible gifts God had given them and to encourage them to use them.

In Ephesians 2:8, 9, Paul reminds the Ephesians that the greatest gift of all is God’s gift of grace for salvation.  No one earns salvation, we freely receive it by faith.

Now you know the story behind Ephesians 2:8, 9.
